Why I want to be a Teacher
I’ve wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I don’t remember any other career that ever stuck with me for more than a few months. I love kids. I love listening to their thoughts and ideas. I’ve always enjoyed school and I want to impact my students’ lives in a positive way. I want to be able to send them to the next grade eager to learn more. I want to be good moral influence. One other reason I want to be a teacher is because this career leaves time to start a family and have time for my family. The final reason to be a teacher is that I want a career that means something, more that just a day in and day out identical routine everyday. With a teaching career, I don’t think I will ever get bored. There will be something new everyday. The last bonus would be holidays and summers off work. That’s always nice!
Observing Progress My Class Makes
I will use the results of tests and quizzes to inform myself of progress they are making and what they are grasping and understanding, as well as what areas need improvement. The progress they make is the only progress I make. These results will show me what I need to go back to and try teaching again in a different way. Monitoring their behavior and development will expose my efforts of keeping a structured classroom of hard work, diligence, and determination. The everyday environment of my classroom will show me if I am doing a good job with management and teaching self-discipline.
Reaching My Goals
To reach my goals of teaching critical thinking, self discipline and confidence, I will ask questions that allow, or cause them to consider different answers and options. I will give them a chance to think for themselves and guide them to a conclusion. I will provide a structured classroom that encourages hard work, diligence, and determination. I will promote personal expression and opinions. I will encourage good behavior and studious practice. I will compliment and praise a job well done. I will be a model of what is expected of me as well as what is expected of them in and outside the classroom. I will continue to educate myself in order to obtain more and various ways of implementing the different learning styles into my lessons. I will be organized and prepared and have a well developed lesson plans.
As a Teacher
To be a teacher I believe one should have a heart for the children. We are educators, in the schools for the students, in the schools to teach. As a teacher I want to be an encourager, a role model, someone my students can trust, a person my students can come and talk to when they feel that they have no where else to turn. I want to be the teacher that is remembered as a favorite. I want my students to love and look forward to, coming to Miss Freeman’s room to learn every day.
Being a teacher and Goals for the Students in my classroom
I feel that I have been called to be a teacher. I want to be a great teacher as well as an honorable role model. I am very excited to teach and watch children learn. I want them to learn what is in the curriculum but I also want them to learn about themselves and each other. I want them to be able to think critically and solve problems in the lesson plans as well as what they might encounter in real life. I want to teach them self discipline in the classroom and outside the classroom. I want to challenge my students to do their best at everything. I believe that if we teach our students to the best of our ability, encourage them to work hard, and let them know that we are in the school for them, they will be more likely to become engaged in our classrooms and try harder and learn more. I want them to know that they can succeed, no matter their home life, their background, or the color of their skin. It doesn’t matter if they have two parents, one parent, or no parents. I want them to know that they are smart and they are special and they can do whatever they want to do, if they try hard enough and are dedicated to their dreams. I believe children can develop their lifelong dream at an early age and if they stick to it, they will accomplish their dream.
